Afterglow
My own Mac app
I designed and built Afterglow as my own replacement for Hue Sync, and it runs on my lights at home.
The question
I have Philips Hue lights and wanted them to follow what I watch, play and listen to. I wanted my own app that does it nicer and smarter, with lights I can place on the screen myself.
What I built
- Every light takes the colour of its own part of the screen, 50 times a second.
- With music, the colours jump along on the beat.
- 26 built-in scenes, from a fireplace to northern lights, or a scene from your own photo.
- Set where each light sits and how bright it is, plus routines, an evening mode and a sleep timer.
Where it stands
- Runs on my own lights at home.
- There is no download: I built it for myself.
